The age-old rivalry between skiers and boarders is ever present, especially in Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT, home to both Alta and Snowbird ski resorts. With Alta still holding to a skiers-only policy, most people will tell you there’s a liiiiiiiiittle tension between the two. So when asked by Alta Sports ski shop to design a shirt celebrating both resorts, I decided to move away from turf wars and instead embrace the resorts for what they truly were: mountains.
Mountains, steadfast in nature, are not moved by arbitrary wills of the populace or land claims. As such, the design omits logos and branding in favor of the simple and equivocal beauty of ridgelines and geography by means of hand-drawn line art. A back and white color scheme further enforces the themes of timelessness and unity.
