There’s rustic and then there’s outdated. For the Alta Lodge’s ski locker room, the latter was the case. Constructed during the 1940s, the Alta Lodge was a haven for early ski enthusiasts across the country. Back then, skinny snow planks were the norm. Fast-forward 75 years to extra wide powder skis - these weren’t jiving so well with the narrow lockers of yesteryear.
To help speed the lodge along to the 21st century, I was hired to draft a new ski locker room complete with extra storage and amenities. The lockers were designed as individual modular units to save costs while allowing for ease of installation. The design also accounts for special case instances where greater space was necessary. A material palette of stained pine honors the building's past while offering a warm, earthy escape from the cold weather outside.
